APOD was created in 1995 by Robert Nemiroff and Jerry Bonnell who continue to select the entries and write and edit the captions. The APOD archive contains the largest collection of annotated astronomical images on the internet. APOD is a service of the Astrophysics Science Division at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center and Michigan Technological University.
